Iridium SatTalk II Dock for Small Aircraft

The SatTalk II is primarily for small aircraft users that need the security of global satellite communications coverage while in the air and flexibility of a removable handheld Iridium satellite phone while on the ground. Communication can be achieved through a headset or through a privacy handset (option). Data/Internet access is also possible. Iridium 9505A not included. (Custom Order: Allow 2-4 weeks delivery)

Fixed-Site and Marine Iridium Systems by BEAM

The RST100 Remote Satellite Terminal by BEAM is great for your remote cabin or lodge. It is no longer necessary to go outside in bad or cold weather conditions to make or receive calls on your Iridium phone. The RST100 can be connected to your standard phone equipment. An optional fax adapter is available for use with standard fax machine equipment, too. The RST100 provides voice, data, and messaging services through the Iridium network. A standard RJ-11 phone (shown for scale but not included) can be used with the RST100 system. Data at 2400 bps is supported using an RS-232 serial port. An LED display indicates the status of power, satellite signal strength, ongoing call status, and whether voicemail is waiting. The BEAM RST100 includes an AC power supply. A similar DC-powered unit, the BEAM RST110, is available for marine applications.

Options include: External Ringer/Alarm, Intelligent Handset, 20-meter cable set.

External Iridium Antennas

Outfitter Satellite stocks a variety of external antennas and cable sets for use with Iridium phones in marine/boat applications, fixed-site/cabin/business applications, and vehicular applications. Except for the vehicular antennas (which include a cable), all the passive antennas shown require a seperate cable. Outfitter Satellite carries 10-meter, 20-meter, and 25-meter cables, that is about 32 ft to about 82 feet. We recommend that you use the shortest cable feasible for your application. If a longer throw cable is required, we recommend a powered "active" antenna though these are more expensive.

• (A)  Pole-Mount Fixed Mast Antenna (threaded pole mount) - This is our most popular mast antenna for permanent in-building or marine applications. They can be used with 10 to 25-m TNC-to-TNC cables. The recommended 25-meter cable is LMR 240 to assure good signal. We almost always have these in stock.
• (B)  Ruggedized Fixed Mast Antenna (U-Bolt or Angle Bracket Mount) - This is an extremely rugged passive antenna for marine applications (10 to 25 m cables available). It is a custom order that typically takes 7-14 days.
• ( C) NOT SHOWN  Portable Auxilliary Antenna - This is a small magnetic mount patch antenna with a built-in 1.5 meter cable for temporary car applications. It is an accessory included with the standard Iridium 9505A kit.
• (D)  Mobile Magnetic Mount Antenna - This is a magnetic-mount patch antenna (5-meter antenna cable) for vehicle applications. We usually have them in stock.
• (E)  Mobile Permanent Mount Antenna - This is a permanent-mount patch antenna (5-meter antenna cable) for vehicle installations. We usually have them in stock.
• (F)  Powered Active Antenna - Used with up to 40 meters of RG213U coax cable for marine or land applications where an extremely robust antenna and long cable runs are required. Model AD510-10 is shown below right with side wall mount. It can also be pole mounted. Specifications and model number subject to change. This is a custom order and delivery is usually 7 to 30 days.

Iridium Data Kit

Iridium provides 2400 bps data. This is adequate for basic text-based email and web applications. The standard data kit includes a 9-pin female D-style serial port attachment and a serial cable to connect the Iridium 9505A to the serial port of your computer. If your computer does not have a serial port, Outfitter Satellite recommends a PCMCIA card adapter (available from Outfitter Satellite). USB-to-serial adapters will also work, though there are some types of computers and operating systems that do not function correctly with this configuration.

The effective internet speed can be significantly improved using compression software, such as SkyFile. SkyFile is free and provides an email account, web-based email reception access via terrestrial internet, and the ability to send faxes through your computer to any fax number.
